How to Write a Korean Address on Shipping Forms

Sending a package to South Korea — or entering a Korean delivery address on a foreign website — is straightforward once you map the address onto the standard form fields.

Field-by-field mapping

Form fieldWhat to enterExample
Address line 1Building number + road name152 Teheran-ro
Address line 2Apartment/unit details101-dong 1203-ho (Bldg 101, Unit 1203)
CityDistrict (and city if not a metropolis)Gangnam-gu
State / ProvinceMetropolitan city or provinceSeoul
ZIP / Postal code5-digit Korean postal code06236
CountrySouth KoreaRepublic of Korea

For addresses outside the big metropolitan cities, put the district + city in City (Suji-gu, Yongin-si) and the province in State (Gyeonggi-do). Rural addresses include a town suffix (-eup) or township (-myeon) before the district.

The postal code does the heavy lifting

Korean carriers sort primarily by the 5-digit postal code, and delivery is completed by Korean couriers who read the address natively. Minor romanization differences rarely cause problems as long as the postal code is correct — so verify it. Search any address on this site to get the official postal code and the exact romanized address from government data.
